Landscape Plan "Regionalpark DreiAnger"
First step for inter-municipal pilot projects to secure green spaces
Cities and metropolitan regions are facing novel challenges, due to growing pressure on public green spaces caused by population growth. Those changes are triggering urgent questions, such as „How do we secure metropolitan and urban green spaces and in parallel improve their recreational value for the urban population. Among others, that is one of the question investigated in the EU funded project „LOS_DAMA“, based in seven different cities and metropolitan regions. Hence, the project aims to develop novel solutions and approaches for metropolitan regional collaborations to do so. Together, the city of Vienna and the city of Gerasdorf are investigating this question for the northern part of Vienna’s metropolitan region.
An in-depth participatory multi-stakeholder process (Nov 2016 – Oct. 2019) forms the basis for the creating development strategies for the “Grünraumspange”, which is recreational areas between Bisamberg, Gerasdorf to the Norbert-Scheed-Wald (Norbert-Scheed-Forest). This landscape plan (technical review) was the first significant step for the subsequent action plan with implementation actions and measures. A steering committee, consisting of metropolitan-regional stakeholder, is accompanying and monitoring the inter-municipal pilot project.
